Collaboration

BOOOOOOOM x LIFETIME

Welcome! This project was our first collaborative effort with our friend Jeff Hamada of Booooooom and Lifetime. We collaborated on this project to celebrate creativity and community. It was our aim to highlight and showcase three artists from the Booooooom archives, and use a tee shirt as the medium. It was an amazing opportunity for us to work with such a talented group of artists from around the world. We were lucky enough to work with Kenichi Hoshine (Brooklyn, NY), Erika Somogyi (Brooklyn, NY) and Garry Trinh (Sydney, Australia).

It is our hope that this little collection will help shine an even brighter light on each o them and their work. This project was a great experience that let us come together in an effort to champion creativity and the arts both locally and globally.

Kenichi Hoshine was born in Japan, raised in New Jersey, and educated at the School of Visual Arts in New York City where he currently lives and works. In years since, Hoshine's work has been exhibited and collected Internationally. In the Spring of 2008, he was selected by London's Saatchi Gallery to show at their booth at the Pulse Art Fair in New York City. He was also chosen as a semi-finalist in the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition for the Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery. He is represented by the J. Cacciola Gallery in New York City.

Erika Somogyi received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts in 1999. Her previous solo exhibitions include Violet Dawn Love Song at Monya Rowe Gallery, New York and Natures Rituals and Mistaken Identities in the Project Room at Rocket Projects, Miami, Fla. Her artwork has also been shown at galleries including, Mountain Fold Gallery, New York; 404 Gallery, Napoli, Italy; Space 1026, Philadelphia, Pa.; V1 Gallery, Copenhagen, Denmark; Current Space, Baltimore, Md.; and Jack Hanley Gallery, San Francisco, Calif. A wearable piece of art created by Somogyi was recently included in Fall Collection a runway show performance at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, Queens, as part of the NY Art Book Fair.

Garry Trinh is an artist working with photography. His artworks and photographs have appeared in numerous exhibitions and publications. He holds a BA in Psychology and a BA in Visual Communications / Photography and Digital Imaging from the University of Western Sydney. He was the winner of Sydney's premier photography prize Sydney Life in 2007 and won the Auburn Mayoral Photographic Prize in 2009.

Booooooom was created by Vancouver-based artist, Jeff Hamada in 2008 in hopes of fostering a community of people excited to go out and be creative! It has quickly become one of the largest blogs on the internet, with well over 1.8 million page views each month, and readers from all over the world. The site features new work by emerging artists daily, and hosts collaborative art projects each month.
