James LaValle The Album Leaf (TAL} is unique in that it is a solo project for James LaValle, who, as a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, has played with a variety of bands over the years, including Tristeza, the Locust, GoGoGo Airheart, the Black Heart Procession and even as a special guest for Sigur Ros. Since its inception in 1999, however, this “solo” project has seen a number of collaborators/friends take part in live shows and the making of the four full-length TAL albums. Songs from 2004’s In a Safe Place are likely the most familiar as they appeared on the soundtrack of several episodes of The OC. The most recent TAL release is entitled Into the Blue Again.
