Do you remember your first drawing?
Nope!
How did you get interested in drawing & art?
My mother was a high school art teacher and went to
art college. It’s a big part of my family.
Do you feel creativity is inherent in all of us?
Sure, it comes out in different ways for different
people. I think some people are just lazier than
others.
Where does it go as we grow up? Does it go away?
I dunno...
Are your parents supportive of your artistic career?
Yeah, they’re totally rad people and super creative in
their own ways.
What are you working on now? What direction do
you see your work heading in?
I have a few shows coming up this year. I’m trying to
take a few more developed techniques a little further
and play with some new things I’ve been tinkering
with. There’s more colour in the new work but still a
lot of stark black and white and more shiny shit too.
Are you working with any new mediums?
Used colour printer cartridges, some silver spray
paint and raw linen.
Where do you draw inspiration from in your
current work?
Old books, looking around my neighbourhood pretty
seriously and a lot of discussion amongst friends.
It seems collage has been a constant in your work
throughout the years? When are you drawn back to
your collage work?
It’s maybe more like my sketchbook? Instead of
doodling I end up making collages.
Are you working towards any shows? If so, where
are you showing your work?
Gonna be showing in a group show at PPOW in NYC
in the summer and a solo show at Eleanor Harwood
in S.F. in the fall.
Where have you shown your work already?
I currently have my first solo show with Clint
Roenisch Gallery, “Highest Prices Paid For Gold,”
will be up until June 4th. I also showed with him in
a group show this winter and we did another show
in 2009. I’ve shown in Toronto, Vancouver, Brooklyn,
S.F. and Denver.
